2024 was a year of many changes; rather, the beginning of the change the country desperately needs. The housing shortage has caused ripple effects throughout the economy – affecting jobs, economic growth, wealth inequality, and inflation. Name a problem with the US economy, and chances are it is connected in some way to the country’s failure to build enough homes. Economists say there is no single solution to the issue, but building more homes and reforming zoning could help. That is where the government is trying to start.
